River Cottage Wedding

Back when I used to work in television I’d hear about all River Cottage and what a beautiful spot it was to shoot at. From the huge expansive  fields to the old farm house it’s full to bursting with charm. I met Danielle and Matt at a wedding fair at River Cottage and when they mentioned an Easter Sunday wedding full of chocolate eggs I knew we were onto a winner. Being a Devon wedding photographer any day you get to ride shotgun in a tractor is a good one! The hills around Axminster are absolutely spectacular with some gorgeous cottages for getting ready in. Bride & groom prep is one of my favourite parts of the day. Being there for in morning with my couples really helps build a good bond for the day. I sometimes feel like a groomsmen/bridesmaid for hire given the number of ties I’ve tied, buttons holes I’ve put on and eyelets I’ve fastened!

Ceremony at River Cottage

The barn at River Cottage is a wonderfully rustic space and Danielle & Matt really made the most of it by combining seasonal flowers with an amazingly talented string duo playing throughout.

Wedding Reception at River Cottage

Danielle & Matt were truly blessed with some proper awesome Devon weather. With the sun shining all day there were all kinds of opportunities to get out and play amongst the fields, take photos with the cows and toss the wellies. When it comes to photographing the reception I like to get in amongst it all to really show the fun and joy -the same goes for the dance floor!

Wedding Photography River Cottage Axminster

River Cottage is one of my absolute favourite Devon wedding venues. Not just because of the food and beautiful location but for the type of couples it attracts – couples like Danielle & Matt. People who are all about enjoying the day to the utmost alongside a healthy sense of adventure! Also having the whole day in one place, from ceremony to raucous party, really helps tie the day together. If you’d like to see more of my work head to my portfolio  or check out my other blogs.
