Weddings are about you

When it comes to the big day, I am *all* about being incognito, but if you’d like to know a little more about me and what makes me tick, read on…

I’m Ant and I photograph weddings. I live in Devon with my wife Harriet, an artist and wedding stationer and our dog Crumble.

When I’m not behind the camera, you’ll find me outside: walking on the moors with Crumble, messing around at the beach, enjoying a drink with friends in our local or pottering about in the veg patch.

My background

I’ve always loved filming and photography. I cut my teeth with the BBC in Bristol, working on the likes of Countryfile and Springwatch. This gave me the bug for story-telling, which lies at the heart of every wedding I shoot; every moment I capture.

I’d like to think that my pretty laid-back take on life and my appreciation of the small things that matter translates into my work. I’m all about capturing the day as it happens. Very little phases me, so whatever surprises that you, your guests, or the weather have in store, I can guarantee you won’t see me flap.

Let's create memorable photos for your wedding

Likewise, I’m pretty unlikely to be badgering you for a shot list of ‘the usuals’: countless configurations of the same family shot; endless line-ups that take up a huge chunk of the day. Having said that, I totally get that those shots are important so I’ll always aim to go about it in a relaxed and informal manner that doesn’t take too long: all of which we’ll chat through well before the day.

Couples often ask me about the portrait session. As a rule I like to go for a quiet walk away from the party and photograph the two of you just being you. I very rarely ask you to pose because, nine times out of ten, you’ll look awkward and uncomfortable! I will have done the arty bit beforehand – thinking about the light, the backdrop, the composition and the story we can tell – so this will be a short snappy session to make sure that you have a beautiful timeless bank of images to look at in the years to come.

Let's have a chat

If you have any questions about my work and how I go about capturing it, I’d love to chat.

Oh and if you’re wondering ‘why Farwood Photography’ well, there’s not one but three stories behind that. The first relates to a Dungeons & Dragons character; the second to an amazing holiday spent exploring the mountains and forests of British Columbia and the third, is simply that I’ve always thought it could be quite a fun alternative surname. I’m ruminating on that one, we can chat about it though…
