SARAH & ALEX – Chateau de Lartigolle Wedding
Grabbing my passport to photograph a Destination Wedding at Chateau de Lartigolle doesn’t happen every day. So when Sarah & Alex approached me way back when in January 2020 I of course said a big resounding YES.
Being a Destination Wedding Photographer, the romance of this French wedding venue goes without saying. The beautiful light, an intimate ceremony surrounded by rustling trees and a secluded courtyard for that first dance (Alex’s favourite thing he was looking forward to the most!).
Situated in the hills of Pessan in South West France, Chateau de Lartigolle has it all. With space for the wedding party to stay. Saying your I Do’s amongst the trees and your wedding breakfast in the wonderful courtyard. Followed by dancing in the Cave!
I must admit, there’s something different about a destination wedding. It feels more intimate and for Sarah and Alex to invite their friends and family over to France worked so well.
Being able to spend a whole weekend in a beautiful part of the world with some wonderful people is the absolute peak of my job. The traveling and logistics part can be a bit of a headache but the rewards are pretty fantastic. Despite Easyjet doing their best to ground the plane on my way out I couldn’t have asked for a better weekend!
A big highlight was seeing the French Croquembouche in all it’s glory! If you don’t know what this is, it’s a tower of profiteroles bound by caramel – it was a huge YES from me! Although the smooshing of this in Sarah and Alex’s face was super fun to see.
Delicious fresh oysters being served for dinner was quite the treat.
You can’t get much more romantic than dancing under the moonlight and twinkly lights in the courtyard before really going for it in the Cave with the band after dark! What a great space!
Thank you Sarah & Alex for inviting me to tell your wedding story, I had a blast!
I really love to hear the stories of my couples and Sarah and Alex have an amazing one to drink in.
How it all began – their story in their words.
We met via Bumble in Jan 2018. Turns out we lived just down the road from each other – Alex likes to make a joke about our relationship being convenient. **eyeroll** We ended up chatting away via text for ages one night and then met up that weekend. We went for tea and scones at Gails Bakery 🙂
When and where did you get engaged?
Alex proposed on the 2 nd November 2019 in Ta Van village in Vietnam! We had arrived that morning after an overnight train journey (think little bunk beds and lots of jolting about. – great fun!) and then walked with a group of local women to their village where we were staying the night. We then got a bit drunk watching the rugby (as you do when on an adventure in Vietnam!) and then got a bit tipsier on local moonshine (you have to try everything once!). When we got back to our room, we decided to sit out on the terrace which is when Alex got down on one knee, whipped out the most beautiful ring and asked me to marry him. Obvs said yes, and then we heard the most beautiful sound- locals singing karaoke. Loudly. Vibrating across the valley. Just the best evening ever!
Your French Destination Wedding Style
The style is “please come and party with us” 😉 but also natural greens with creams and golds. We didn’t want to take away from the beautiful venue too much and so used a simple style that enhanced its chic presence with a nod to nature.
What are you most looking forward to on the day?
Sarah – Alex seeing me in my dress
Alex – The first dance
Sarah & Alex’s Golden nuggets of advice.
Let go of the details and focus on the reason behind it all, marrying your person 🙂
If you’re also marrying ‘your person’ then I’d love to be there to photograph it all. Drop me a message or book in a consultation so you can tell me all about it.
